I have taken an old Dobson style banjo and put original type Gut /Nylon strings (from a clasical guitar set using an extra first string on the fifth ) Here are two tunes I learned off of Don Zepp here on Yt . I love all the great clips he has added here .The first is Nancy a northern English tune from Tom Clough from the 1920'S / 1930's . The second is Spotted Pony and is such a clean simple tune and very easy to mess up if you over think it . I am playing in double C or gCGCD on a Early Dobson Victor (The model below the "Gem " ) most likely made by J. H. Buckbee Company of New York and later Boston, which was active until 1897, when it was sold to Rettberg & Lange in New York.. Names on the interior of the drum head " Property of " : Harvey A Coons Earl E, Morey Lyman E Ball Davis Oakse has done a beautiful job referbushing this banjo . The clip showing that is called My Grandfather's clock • My Grandfather's Clock / 1880's Dobson Banjo
