No Differences Between Gambhir & Senior Players: GCA Chief Mahesh Dessai

Goa Cricket Association (GCA) President Mahesh Dessai on Monday praised Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir for his strong focus on the game and dismissed speculation about any rift between the coach and senior players. “Head coach Gautam Gambhir is very focused on cricket. There are no differences between him and senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli,” Dessai said. Speaking about India’s recent ODI series, Dessai lauded Virat Kohli, calling him an extraordinary player, while attributing the series loss to the middle-order collapse. “Virat Kohli is an extraordinary player. We would have won the ODI series if the middle order had not collapsed,” he added. Dessai also revealed that he has invited Gambhir to visit Goa to motivate local cricketers. “I have invited Gautam Gambhir to come to Goa along with some players. I requested him to interact with and motivate Goa players, and he has assured me that he will visit Goa,” the GCA president said. On infrastructure development, Dessai said that the new cricket stadium in the state is progressing as planned. “The stadium will be ready in three years.
