Episode 37 of Piping Up with Stephen Regec A special live music and worship service at Addisville Reformed Church We invite you to experience a heartfelt worship service and musical showcase from Addisville Reformed Church, where tradition and community come together through music, message, and ministry. Filmed live during a special Music and Worship service, this video features congregational hymns, piano and organ duets, inspiring choral selections, and a guided tour of the church's unique pipe organ—modest in size, yet rich in character and sound. At the heart of the service is the church's 1984 Petty-Madden pipe organ (Opus 12), a 19-rank instrument enhanced with an Allen Organ Company MIDI module. Though relatively unknown beyond the local community, this instrument fills the sanctuary with warmth and strength. The current façade, updated with assistance from the Schantz Organ Company, features pipework from an earlier Schantz organ, preserving elements of past worship in its present form. Its regular care and tuning are entrusted to Stephen Emery of Allentown, PA, whose craftsmanship keeps the organ sounding its best for every service and celebration. The history of organ music at Addisville reaches back more than a century. In 1912, the church received a significant gift from Andrew Carnegie, whose generosity funded half of a $15,000 pipe organ on the condition that the congregation raise the other $7,500. The members met the challenge, and the instrument was installed in the chancel of the sanctuary. Though that original organ has since been removed, the legacy of strong musical leadership and congregational commitment continues to thrive. Addisville Reformed Church itself began in 1852, founded by Dutch Reformed settlers who sought a community of worship in Bucks County. Services were first held in barns and homes, eventually leading to the building of the original sanctuary. The name “Addisville” honors William Addis, an early and influential member whose dedication to faith and service helped guide the church's foundation. Today, Addisville stands as a sanctuary in every sense of the word, offering peace, welcome, and spiritual growth to all who enter. A lifelong musician who began piano lessons at age five and organ at twelve, Chip brings both reverence and personality to the console. His love for J.S. Bach and his deep appreciation for church music are evident in every note. When not serving in worship, Chip works as a freelance Spanish interpreter and is a seasoned traveler, having explored over 50 countries across five continents. We are also grateful to Mitzi Shetzline, Director of the Standing Stones Worship Team, for her work at the piano and for her musical guidance throughout the service. The adult choir, under the leadership of Aimee O'Neill, adds heartfelt harmony and spiritual richness to the worship experience. Worship was co-led by Ryan Sweet, Associate Pastor, whose presence and prayerful leadership significantly shaped the service's flow. Special thanks are due to Rev. Douglas J. Dwyer, Senior Pastor, for his support and encouragement in launching this special program. We also acknowledge and thank Ben France for his help with the early stages of setup, ensuring that everything behind the scenes ran smoothly. And finally, we extend our gratitude to the congregation of Addisville for warmly welcoming us and supporting this project with openness and enthusiasm. This video is more than just a recording—it is a living testimony of community, worship, and musical ministry. We hope it inspires, uplifts, and draws you into the spirit of Addisville, a church defined by its faith, its people, and its music.
