East Lancashire Railway Railway 200 Open-House Day Saturday 18th January 2025 A busy day of activities around Bury Bolton Street station for a special open day celebrating Railway 200. The event was a chance to get the smaller members of the fleet out of the box with each diesel shunter taking a turn running a shuttle up to Summerseat, with a steam loco on the rear. We see two sets of cavalcades of engines, first off hauled by a Class 40, a consist Class 56006, Class 50 50015 and a Class 110 DMU Car for static display with a Class 144 Pacer in platform 4 which followed shortly behind. Next we see a train held by MSC 4002 ‘Arundel Castle’ running to Castlecroft, consisting of Class 08 13594/08479, Class 03 D2062, Class 01 11506 (D2956) and CEGB 1378 (battery-electric locomotive), the locos for the days shuttles. Lancashrie & Yorkshire Railway Pug 19 and Class 08 08164 ‘Prudence’ (D3232) ran footplate experience courses at Bury. Class 09 09024 is seen leading the shuttle set off the through siding with Andrew Barclay Works No. 1969 ‘JN Derbyshire' on the rear. Due to high visitor numbers an addition to the event on the day was the Class 144 Pacer running 'Station Limit Shuttles'. www.preservedrailway.co.uk (C) Lee Andrew Davies 2025
