In this TEDxWilmington talk, Sharece Sellem-Hannah challenges traditional approaches to training and outreach in health and human services, advocating for deeper, more meaningful impact. Sharing her personal journey from trauma to advocacy, she reveals the key elements that helped her heal and connect with others. This talk highlights the limitations of conventional methods, while offering innovative strategies to build empathy and enhance training, education, and community engagement in social professions. Theatre/Filmmaker, Community Health Educator, and Cycle-Breaker, Sharece Sellem-Hannah challenges outreach methods and explores how creative storytelling can build more empathy, improve training, and make human services more effective. With a career in theatre, documentary filmmaking, over 15 years in the human services field, and Master of Science in Community Health and Prevention Science, she combines these worlds to create more meaningful impact in the social professions.
