Highly repetitive proteins are a source of biological variability used, for example, by pathogens to escape the host immune system. Therefore, their detection and evolution are central to many research projects. In this webinar I will explain how to find repeats in protein sequence databases and how to investigate their evolution using bioinformatics tools. This webinar is aimed at scientists interested in the study of protein sequence and evolution. A basic biology and programming will be assumed. No prior knowledge of bioinformatics is required, but an undergraduate level understanding of biology would be useful. This webinar was recorded on 27 June 2018. It is best viewed in full screen mode using Google Chrome. The slides from this webinar and scripts can be accessed in Train online. https://www.ebi.ac.uk/training/online...
