What if we rethought about the way movies are made? Award-winning filmmaker and Clemson University professor Sam Sokolow shares how we can view film as a manufacturing endeavor. He shares about how movies are practically made and what components are essential to produce a film. In this talk, Sam talks about how the Upstate of South Carolina may have the perfect environment to manufacture movies and the potential for the art form to see a boom in the near future. Sam is an Executive Producer of GENIUS, a scripted series for National Geographic Network and Disney+. Sam developed GENIUS from book to series. Sam currently leads Sammy Nice Inc., a Los Angeles-New York-Greenville based independent television and film studio. At Sammy Nice Inc., Sam oversees all aspects of television & film development and physical production, including the acquisition and packaging of intellectual properties, script & format development, financing, sales, and full-service third-party production services in the US and abroad. Sam is a teacher and a mentor. Sam is currently a Professor of Practice of film and television production at Clemson University.
