The panel discussion on the film "Mission Joy" was recorded on Monday, October 9, 2023 at the University of Colorado campus in Boulder, Colorado. The film focuses on a conversation between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Panelists: Thupten Jinpa, PhD: Founder and director of the Compassion Institute and principal author of Compassion Cultivation Training. Sona Dimidjian, PhD: Director and founding Faculty Fellow of the Renée Crown Wellness Institute, professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Colorado Boulder. Reiland Rabaka, PhD: Founder and director of the Center for African & African American Studies and professor of African, African American, and Caribbean Studies in the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder. The panel was moderated by Michele Simpson, JD, Faculty Affiliate & Research Associate, Renée Crown Wellness Institute, Associate Teaching Professor, Creative Minds & Honors Residential Academic Programs, Faculty Affiliate, Center for African & African American Studies and Holly Gayley, PhD, professor of Religious Studies and founding team member of the Contemplative Resource Center. This event is a collaborative effort of the University Libraries, the Renée Crown Wellness Institute, and the Contemplative Resource Center, in celebration of the Buffs One Read 23-24, The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World.
