Probably one of my favorite Christmas tree lighting shows at any Disney Park, probably because it was around the time I was getting into all things Disney, Colors of Christmas was the spiritual successor to Candlelight Reflections. Much like that show, Mickey and his friends would gather together to help light up the Christmas tree at the center of Mediterranean Harbor. The show debuted in 2012, two years after the closure of Candlelight Reflections, and ran all the way until 2019 when it held its final performances. At first this show consisted of two big barges, one used in the 10th anniversary daytime show “Be Magical!” and the Sorcerer hat barge from “Fantasmic!” There were also 8 tiny stationary barges which held little Christmas trees that would light up during the show. The following year in 2013, two transit steam liners were added with more characters, and the “Be Magical” barge and the steam liners were decorated with festive garlands and ornaments. In 2016, the show was given a major overhaul as the show was given a special 15th anniversary version with all the ornaments changed to crystals and even the soundtrack was re-recorded with new music as well as the anniversary theme. The show became “Colors of Christmas: Nighttime Wishes.” After the anniversary the show returned to normal, and the new soundtrack was kept with the removal of the anniversary theme. The show closed in 2019 due to the closure of Fantasmic! later on in 2020. Fun Fact: The barge that was used for this show and Fantasmic was created using the chandelier tree barge from Candlelight Reflections. The main theme of the show was reused from “Christmas Wishes,” a show that took place in Waterfront Park from 2010-2011. The song was later used over at DCA and Disneyland Paris for World of Color: Winter Dreams/ Disney Dreams of Christmas, which change lyrics. 0:00 Colors of Christmas 15:05 Colors of Christmas: Afterglow
