On the Isle of Naoko, however, they come across all the ingredients for a perfect contract: population + dragon + devastated lands = tons of cash. Unfortunately the dragon is a divinity for the local inhabitants, who consider the beast as the protector of their harvests. But the son of the island’s ruler, who is fresh out of Monarch School, dismisses their age-old beliefs and offers our heroes a tasty contract. Our heroes are won over by the prince’s smooth talk, firm in their belief anyway that the only good dragon is a dead dragon, and they accept the deal. However, misfortune is just around the corner. Our heroes are forced to review their preconceptions about the dragon race.
