First seminar at Sensei Kashyap Vora dojo, Mumbai India Dec 2025 This was the first time I had an opportunity to hold a seminar at Sensei Vora's dojo. Hopefully, we will continue to have an independent seminar at his dojo in the future. First, I emphasized that open hand technique is misunderstood as a long distance technique comparing to a fist technique. Other than Nukite, open hand techniques such as Shuto, Haito and Teisho are shorter than a regular fist punch. Due to this common misunderstanding, many practitioners' open hand strikes end up short or not being able to reach the target properly. The second point I brought up is the initial step that must be forward and not to the side. You need to get into, what I call a dancing distance with the opponent. You will need to add Tenshin, 90degree body rotation for two main reasons. 1. To move out of the attacking line and to more advantageous position. 2. Energize the counter attack by rotating the upper body. This enables a whip arm technique. The attacker here is Sensei Amit Khatri, the ambassador of ASAI India.
