Our boat trailer is getting a much needed upgrade. We are upgrading to the BoatBuckle retractable transom straps. Transom straps are gonna be pretty useful when you only really need one side of the strap and you do have a nice place to mount it up on your trailer. Whether it's a boat trailer or maybe it's just a trailer you use to haul your mower, it's gonna give us a polyester strap so it's gonna pretty much be the same material as your seat belts in the car. Our strap is gonna be 2 inches wide and will come out all the way to 43 inches. The hooks are gonna be coated with a powder coated finish, so this is going to just make sure that I'm not gonna scratch up my boat whenever I'm hauling. I just want my boat to be nice and safe when it's on the trailer, this stuff happens on the water, but now you don't have to worry about it getting all scratched up. It is gonna retract just like this, which is super nice for whenever you want a quick disconnect or quick connect. The way it works is we're gonna have it come out, go over our little hook right there, and then what you wanna do, if you just grab the rubber-coated piece of the handle, it's not gonna do anything, but there's something underneath that if you hold this, it's going to start ratcheting down. And whenever you do want to release it there's gonna be a tab on both sides that you go like this. And once that's done, it's going to retract, slide out nice and easy, super quick, super easy. And it's a lot better than this whole mess that I was working with before. Whenever you're mounting this up, these measurements are gonna come in handy. So the overall length right here I'd say it's about 6 inches. The overall width is gonna be about 4 1/2 inches. And as far as the depth goes, we're looking at about 2 1/2 inches. All the mounting hardware is included. You just wanna make sure you have a hole that is 3/8 inches in diameter and the hardware is gonna be 2 inches long. So make sure that you have a thin enough place when you're mounting it so the hardware's gonna work. All the metal's gonna be made of stainless steel, but we do also have the rubber on the end, so it's not gonna be too tough on your hands especially if you're doing, I don't know, duck stuff in the winter where it's cold, but also it's gonna protect itself, 'cause these will be able to go into the water and not rust away over time. These straps are gonna have a working load limit of 500 pounds and a break strength of 1500 pounds, and that's for each one. So for my little 18 foot Jon boat, it is a perfect size. So if you're looking for one that's gonna be best for your trailer, look at weight capacity, but also the length as well. All you need is a 16 millimeter wrench and a 16 millimeter deep well socket to get it installed. Didn't take me much longer than maybe 30 seconds for each side. So stick around, we're gonna show you how we did it. You first wanna find exactly where you wanna put it. I'm just gonna use it to secure my boat to the trailer. So there's a perfect little hole right here so we can mount this up. What we wanna do is we're going to take this, kind of hold this back a little bit and we want to put a washer on our bolt and this hardware is included with the kit, so you don't have to grab any more. You just put it through like this and then you wanna do the same exact thing on the back side, washer, then we are gonna put this nylon lock nut. And what I like to do, now that it's at least on there, it's gonna stay, I like to take this, release this up and just connect it to where we need to be, so it kind of holds itself up into place. And then we can just take a 16 millimeter wrench to go slide in on this side, like this, hold that into place and then get a 16 millimeter socket, wanna make sure it's a deep well, tighten it up over here. Now that that's nice and secure, we can go ahead and tighten this thing up and we are ready to go. It comes in a pack of two so we can do that same exact thing on the other side. Sometimes a little bit of simplicity makes the whole entire job a little bit easier, and that's the case with these BoatBuckle retractable transom straps..
