Panning or changing positions is as simple as it sounds; First you enable keyframing for the position transformation property, which you can do by clicking on the circle white toggle (icon will become blue and filled with a dot when enabled). You just set a starting position with the x-axis & y-axis; usually enabling the keyframing does that for you as long as you have the scrubber at the beginning of the composite shot timeline. Then you move the scrubber, and change the position with the red & green arrows ontop of the video clip in the viewing window. Combining zooming & panning allows you to zoom to a specific position or part of your video or image.
