Shadow was on egg duty and was watching his fierce lady, show the pesky ravens that she wasn't to be messed with. She'd had enough of their pestering shenanigans and decided it was time to teach them a lesson. 🐦⬛⚠️⚔️🦅 You'll need to use your eagle eyes and watch the right side of the screen to find them, when on slow-motion. Tip: Hold down the right side of the video screen to play in 2x speed if needed. At one point an immature eagle made a quick appearance as it soared with ravens nearby, likely pestering it as well. Disclaimer: at roughly 58 seconds in, it switches to slow mo (.25x) but you'll need to skip about 10 seconds of no activity. I hit record too early so timing was off. Shadow is looking over his shoulder, then Jackie comes from the right side. Watch for the flash of white from her head and bum-brella feathers. Jackie ends up returning to the nest and tags Shadow in for his turn on guard duty, while she took over egg duty. Although, Jackie is widely known as the big danger bird of the neighbird-hood, Shadow's smaller size makes him a lot more agile in the air and a bit faster for aerial pursuits. However, ravens have the advantage of out maneuvering the eagles since they are smaller and don't have the 6-8ft wingspan that requires a slower turn. One day, they may not be so lucky! At the end of the clip, the camera operators catch sight of the youngster perched on the Lookout Snag tree. Based on feather plumage on its crown and what I think looked like a 2nd year's jagged wingline, I think that particular eagle might've been a 2024 hatch year.🌲🔭 I'll be posting another video soon, showing the other juvie that perched in the Simba Tree, overnight. Jackie and Shadow weren't happy about the visitors but once it starts getting dark, the eagles cannot see well enough to battle it out. To be continued... Note: Pip watch begins March 31st.🥚👀 Thank you FOBBV camera operators for always trying to give us the best views. Video captured, edited and captioned by D.
