Torque sensors are required in many applications including: Helicopter and turboprop aircraft engines Industrial machinery and robotics Off highway machinery axles and transmissions Automotive suspension, steering and powertrain systems Motorsport for performance management As torque sensor technology improves with innovations such as the Transense Surface Acoustic Wave or SAW sensors, new applications are being opened up where traditional technology was not viable, such as in the measurement of electric motor output torque.
