The People’s Republic of China’s (PRC) strategy for pressing its claim that Taiwan is a part of China increasingly relies on a claim that UN General Assembly (UNGA) Resolution 2758 establishes, as a matter of international law, the PRC’s “One China” principle. The PRC’s account mischaracterizes the contents of Resolution 2758 and ignores the limits to the UN’s powers to make international law.
