I'm Still Standing - Elton John - Los Angeles - 10/8/1986

Until a couple of months ago, the Los Angeles 1986 run had its two mainstay soundboards from 10/10 & 10/11 along with a more recent emergence of an audience source for the former show. However, that was blown out of the water when the second night of the run was put on YouTube by Jim Rinehart, who deserves all the credit for capturing arguably one of the strongest nights featured on the entire tour with excellent sound quality (many thanks also goes to him for the fresh Costa Mesa copy which is now finally complete!). I'm Still Standing on this tour has many unforgettable moments and this performance is no exception from start to finish. A piano/keyboard duel between Elton and Fred Mandel during the intro whets the appetite with a band playing out of its skin throughout, especially David Paton's bass which pops beautifully in the ears. The vocal performance also has some merit with Elton still able to bust out a couple of Bb4's and the voice not being as trashed as the next couple of nights. This has to be dedicated to my favourite non-famous Australian ‪@EltonStuff‬, with massive thanks going for him for securing those sweet sweet FLAC files. Enjoy!
