Around 50 British soldiers drove from Bagram south to Kabul around 40 kilometres (25 miles) away. They left Bagram airbase at around 0700 local time (0200GMT). The troops arrived at the Afghan Officers Club in Kabul, where they are to be based. Around three-thousand ISAF troops are expected to be deployed in Afghanistan, after Kabul expressed concern about the figure of between five and six thousand initially envisaged by the international community. The signing of an agreement paving the way for the deployment of an international peacekeeping force in Afghanistan is set to be signed later on Monday. The terms of the military and technical agreement on the size and jurisdiction of ISAF were finalised on Sunday, after several days of negotiations between the country's interim government and British General John McColl.
