Noah Beaulieu, Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation (October 2, 1906 – March 18, 2006) ****** Nitam Agwi’idiwin Dibaajimom - Oral History of the Treaty #1 Region Video Project The Manitoba Indigenous (formerly Indian) Cultural Education Centre commenced the Treaty No. 1 Oral History Project February 16, 1995 with an interview with the late Stan Nelson of Roseau River Anishinaabe First Nation. Although Treaty 1 is entirely in Southern Manitoba, the interviews were not restricted to the area. The Oral History Project was to be conducted in the First Nation’s language (Ojibwe/Saulteaux) for comfort and ease of communication from the participants that comprised mostly of Elders. Contacts were initiated to proposed communities to assist in ascertaining potential interviewees by band offices, community centres, clinics and community members.
