Here is Part 2 of the Jerry & Merl show I previously uploaded. It is from the Matrix in SF in 1971 Although the sound is not pristine, I truly believe this show, inc (part 1: • Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders - 1971-xx-x... ) and this part 2, show some of Garcia's best work!....both technically and sonically. Just enough tasty distortion while remaining true to his notes and interplay with the others. ********* Get as much Jerry & Merl/Jerry Garcia And Friends/Legion of Mary/JGB/ from '71 to '74 as possible. You will hear so many variations, instruments, venues and it all plays a role. Always start with Jerry and Howard Wales. Nicky Hopkins in '75 is a must, Martin and his sax, Tom Fogerty on guitar, Marty David replacing Kahn on occasion, Kreutzmann on drums, Armando Peraza-congas (Spring 1972), George Tickner-guitar (Spring 1973), Sarah Fulcher-vocals (Dec 1972-Oct 73), Will Scarlett-harmonica (1973) ********** 01 Blues Jam 8:48 (drop out at 5:23-:26) start at :30 02 Jam 24:04 ; starts at 9:56 ish Nice open sound, great soundstage! Even with the compression sound. Jerry played his Les Paul Double Cut this gig. 1971 sees Garcia changing guitars like no other year... Starts the year with the SG, then the Les Paul DC(TV Yellow)then the Turner Custom, The Guild S100 for a gig or two, Turner Custom,,, Nash Strat(Alligator),then the Guild S100 again, then the Les Paul Double Cut again, The Nash Strat again, a Sunburst Les Paul, then back on the Strat... Jerry Garcia, Merl Saunders, Bill Vitt, John Kahn [SBD Master Reel - Reel x2 - CD - wav - here] Huge thanks to Will Boswell for the source and to Matt Smith for blessing us with a copy. Props go to the original taper Peter Abrams as well as the man who made reels from those masters Peter Kafer. Have a grate day! Turn on Your Lovelight and leave it on! Peace, Mike
