2012 was a legendary year for mobile games. We had the iPhone 5, Temple Run was the king, and everyone was trying to beat their friends' high scores in Subway Surfers. Lately, I've been feeling nostalgic for that era, so I decided to see if I could recreate that iconic gameplay from scratch using the Godot Engine. From procedural track generation to that lane switching movement, rebuilding a classic is a lot harder (and more fun) than it looks. In this video, I break down: The Feel: Re-engineering 3-lane logic and jump physics in Godot. The Logic: My personal approach to infinite object spawning without breaking the game. The Look: Chasing nostalgia and building a vibrant, 2012-inspired world. Whether you're a Godot dev or just someone who spent way too many hours on this game in middle school, I hope you enjoy the journey!
