In this episode we move back to the earliest records of Jesus’ life and teaching and look at Matthew, Mark, and Luke as a unified witness. Rather than trying to cover everything, we trace the central question that these books press on every reader: Who do you say that He is? The Gospels record only a small fraction of Jesus’ earthly life, yet they are carefully shaped around key moments — Peter’s confession, the revelation of the suffering Christ, and the glimpse of His glory. Together they form a deliberate arc that calls for a response, not just historical awareness. We also place these writings in their first-century setting, consider when they were likely written, and explore why their focus is so different from later theological developments. This series is about understanding the foundations of Christian thought by going back to the sources that shaped everything that followed. In this video: • Why the Synoptic Gospels are treated as a unit • The historical timeframe of their writing • The significance of how little of Jesus’ life is recorded • Peter’s confession as the turning point • The pattern: revelation → rejection of the cross → glory • Why this question still stands at the center of the church today If this series is helpful, consider subscribing and following the journey through the history of Christian theology.
