On February 28, Crandall ISD will celebrate its 125th anniversary. In the weeks leading up to this milestone, we’re sharing the stories of people who helped shape our district into what it is today. When Sarah Wright came to Crandall Independent School District, she intended to simply teach — do her work well and head home at the end of the day. A graduate of Kemp High School, where her basketball teams faced Crandall in the 1960s, she returned years later not as a rival, but as a Pirate. What followed was far more than a teaching career. Wright coached Crandall’s volleyball team to a 1981 state championship and later served 18 years as principal of Crandall High School, retiring in 2005. What began as a simple plan became a legacy that shaped generations of students.
