Despite meeting all entry requirements, Suthan was detained by immigration authorities upon arrival, arrested, and held in custody for three days without being given any clear or valid reason. He was subsequently denied entry and deported. During this distressing situation, I made several attempts to contact the Sri Lankan High Commission seeking guidance and assistance. Unfortunately, there was no response, nor was any action take n to support a Sri Lankan citizen facing such serious difficulties abroad. As representatives of Sri Lanka and protectors of its citizens overseas, I believe the High Commission has a responsibility to at least provide guidance, intervention, or support when nationals encounter legal or immigration issues in foreign countries. The absence of a response in this case regarding Suthan’s detention is deeply concerning and disappointing. I kindly request a formal explanation regarding the lack of assistance and what steps will be taken to ensure Sri Lankan citizens receive proper support in similar situations in the future. I booked an airport taxi on PickMe in Sri Lanka. They charged me around 7 USD for the PickMe to the airport from Negombo Boutique Villa. The flight was operated by Smartwings.com. Before you visit Seychelles as a tourist or worker, you must obtain a valid entry permit from their government, have a booked and paid hotel, and bring enough show money for your stay to avoid immigration rejections.
