What are the strength requirements for a muscle-up? I’m answering this question by making an estimate based on pull-up numbers and I’m sharing an even more precise strength test! This is probably one of the most asked questions on the channel, especially “How many pull ups for a muscle up?”. And while I can give you an estimate based on experience, the pull up and muscle up have different pulling angles. So, taking that into account, this is (in my opinion) the optimal way to see/test if you are ready for the muscle up! I hope you find the video helpful! 💪 For clarification, the diagonal pull up is not 45 degrees in the literal sense (it’s actually closer to 35-40 degrees, as you can see in my MU tutorial). But being that specific makes the technical focus too big of a factor, and that’s not the goal with this test. For now, lean back and pull with all you got, without worrying about the exact angle. Also, diagonal pull ups are better for muscle up progress, because they target the specific pulling angle, but that’s not an invitation to skip the basics. I recommend starting with diagonal pull-ups and transitioning into regular pull-ups once your explosive power starts to fade.
