Getting Citizenship in Ghana - Real Talk

Since Ghana’s independence in 1957 and the vision of its first president Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana has welcomed and actively encouraged African Americans to reconnect with their roots. Over the past 10 years Ghana has granted citizenship to hundreds of members of the African diaspora, including many African Americans, through initiatives like "Beyond the Return”. But despite the publicity, the path to citizenship is not a clear one. In this segment, friends, colleagues and Black American repatriates to Ghana, Christa Sanders (21 years in Ghana) and Muhammida El Muhajir (11 years in Ghana) sit down for honest and authentic conversations about their cross cultural journey successfully traveling, living, working, and ultimately gaining citizenship in Ghana in 2022.
