Speaker Bio: Mikahla Beutler is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), National Certified Counselor, and founder of Emergence: Training, Consulting and Psychotherapy, in Santa Fe, NM. In her 20+ years of experience she has taught graduate students, provided clinical supervision, facilitated continuing education courses, served as an independent school counselor, and managed a robust private practice. She currently provides training in the field of mental health for agency, school, and government programs to strengthen trauma-informed approaches and client-centered interventions. The core ethos of her work (and play!) is to come with curiosity. Training Description: This training is a supervision-level course designed to strengthen supervisors’ ability to recognize, prevent, and respond to burnout within themselves and their teams. Together, we will examine how burnout, distress, and secondary trauma affect both individual providers and agencies, and why addressing these issues is essential to maintaining trauma-informed care. Grounded in the practice of self-compassion, the session will provide practical strategies for supporting supervisors and their supervisees in building healthier, more sustainable approaches to work. Participants will leave with tools to identify early warning signs, foster resilience, and lead with confidence and compassion. Learning Objectives: 1. Define burnout, distress, and secondary trauma 2. Describe how burnout disrupts an individual’s and agency’s ability to provide trauma-informed care 3. Name the common warning signs of burnout experienced by individuals 4. Identify three components of self-compassion 5. Assist supervisees in developing their own self-compassion practice Disclosures: All trainings are funded by Behavioral Health Services Division, New Mexico Healthcare Authority.
