Beech Wood Furniture Repair

Furniture repair video of a small side table made out of beech wood. Fixed and touched up the finish on this piece in my small shop in Northern Ontario. Received this wooden side table with 3 legs broken and major cracks in the table. This is the process of bringing it back to life. This piece, while beautiful, was designed poorly from the outset. The legs are in multiple pieces that are butt jointed with only 1/4" splines between the pieces, so of course they broke. Someone else attempted to fix it with dowels and expanding polyurethane glue, but even that didn't last. As well, the solid wood top had thick plywood hard glued to it so it couldn't expand and contract with the seasons, leading to cracks. All these issues were addressed in this repair, but even with my fixes, I suspect that because it looks like a stool it will likely be sat on and break because the design simply can't handle that much weight.
