INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON: Data Science and AI for the Sustainable Food-Energy-Water Nexus SPEAKER: Dr. Yu Ding, H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology PAGINA OFICIAL DEL EVENTO: https://few-ai.top/ LUGAR Y FECHA: Auditorio "Ing. Jorge Suárez Díaz" del Depto. de Ingeniería Eléctrica. Studio Master: Valente Espinosa, Lun. 13 de octubre de 2025, 10:30 Hrs Videoproducción: José U. Cruz Cedillo, Depto. de Computación ABSTRACT: The speaker published a book in 2019, entitled 'Data Science for Wind Energy,' in which a set of wind operational problems is framed through a general formulation of f(Y|X), where Y is the response on a turbine and X is the wind and environmental input. When Y is the wind power output, the conditional density, f(Y|X), is related to the power curve model of wind turbines and can be used to characterize a wind turbine's performance and production efficiency. When Y is the mechanical load, the conditional density, f(Y|X), is related to the load estimation and reliability management for the wind turbines. Modeling and understanding the dynamic in X itself is also important, because a good model of X leads to better wind forecasting. The book is therefore structured in three parts: wind field modeling for forecasting, power curve modeling for performance analysis, and turbine reliability and fault detection. In this talk, the speaker will discuss work related to the second part of the book and present examples in which data science solutions make sensible impact.
