HAVE I FOUND MY FILIPINO TWIN? There's a restaurant in Aklan called Anselmo's - one letter away from my real name - and Kulas (@BecomingFilipino) thinks he looks like me... Meanwhile, there's all kinds of other seafoods, like a plate of 24 oysters for 300 pesos, and then something a bit more wild in the form of wood worms (tamilok) the next day! From Batan, we take the water taxi over to neighbouring New Washington. It's 120 pesos for the V-Strom and 40 pesos for myself for the 8 minute journey across the channel. From New Washington, we head to Kalibo, the capital of Aklan province, in search of a restaurant that bears my name (almost). Upon reading the menu, it turns out that the caricature of the owner bears similar resemblance to me. Apparently. Then we head up the Aklan River Valley to a town called Madalag, which has a few lesser known eco-tourism adventures - such as the Liktinon White Rocks, a fun trail to get in, and a beautiful ending beside the forest! Descending, we get some dinner near the hotel - super cheap seafood, a massive plate of oysters in my case! The next day Kulas had a new surprise - it's some woodworms! Cultured for a year inside mangrove trees, tamilok are a unique exotic food for those looking for something different! And then we say our goodbyes... until next time! ================ CONTACT ME!
