Project Title: ESP32 Home Automation with Google Assistant Overview: This project aims at building a smart home automation system using ESP32 and Google Assistant. The ESP32 board will act as a Wi-Fi gateway to control different home appliances from a smartphone or smart speaker through voice commands. We will use a relay board to control the AC appliances and use Google Assistant on our phone to send voice commands to the ESP32 board which then responds to the command through controlling relays. Use case: This project can be used in the real estate industry for home automation. It can be used to control the lights, fans, AC, and other appliances in the house using voice commands. It saves energy and provides efficient control of the devices. It can be used in hotels, offices, and other establishments as well. With the help of the internet, we can communicate with the ESP32 board from anywhere and control the appliances accordingly. It provides easy control and helps in providing better customer service. Components: 1. ESP32 Development Board 2. Relay board (2-channel or more) 3. AC Power cable 4. Breadboard and jumper wires 5. Android phone with Google Assistant 6. Internet connectivity Hardware connections: 1. Connect the AC power cable to the relay board, and then connect the relay board to the ESP32 board. 2. Connect the jumpers from the relay board input to the corresponding pins on the ESP32 board. 3. Connect the ESP32 board to the computer using a USB cable. Software: 1. Install the Arduino IDE and ESP32 development board drivers (if not yet installed). 2. Open the Arduino IDE, and select the ESP32 board from Tools, Board. 3. Download and install the required libraries for ESP32 and Google Assistant. 4. First, assemble and connect the hardware components. 2. Connect the ESP32 board to the computer using a USB cable. 3. Open the Arduino IDE and select the board and port. 4. Copy the code into the IDE and make changes according to your Wi-Fi and MQTT settings. 5. Upload the code to the ESP32 board. 6. Connect the AC appliances to the relay board, and then power on the relay board. 7. Go to the Google Assistant app on your smartphone and add new devices. 8. Say the name of the devices to Google Assistant to control the appliances Testing: 1. Turn on the relay board power. 2. Open the Google Assistant app on your smartphone. 3. Make sure that the ESP32 board is connected to Wi-Fi. 4. Say, "OK Google, turn on the device". 5. The relay should now turn on and turn off with the command "OK Google, turn off the device". Troubleshooting: 1. If the relay board is not turning on or off, check if it is connected correctly. 2. Make sure that the Wi-Fi settings, MQTT settings, and other details in the code are correct. 3. Check the power supply to the relay board. 4. Check if the MQTT server is running. Expertise level: This project requires basic knowledge of electronics, programming, IoT, and networking. However, beginners can also follow the instructions mentioned above and build this project.
