What should you do today if your child is sick? • If you or your child have mild cold symptoms, no travel history, no known close contact with coronavirus – treat the cold symptoms as you normally would. STAY HOME! • If you or your child have fever and cough, but no travel history and no known close contact with coronavirus – treat the symptoms and call us to determine next best steps STAY HOME! Try to keep the sick child away from other family members for at least 72 hours after the fever breaks. • If the symptoms persistent or worsening symptoms - fever, dehydration, irritable/ fussy, chest pain and /or concerns worsening respiratory symptoms then parents should call to have the child/ teen seen. Please bring your own face mask, if possible. • If you or your child have fever, cough and you DO have a travel history or a close contact with coronavirus (close contacts are usually household members and those who were within 6 feet of an infected person for a prolonged period of time - the health department will be tracking down the close contacts and informing you), call us for further guidance. We are not testing anyone in our office at this time. • If you or your child have fever, cough, AND shortness of breath or difficulty breathing – call an ambulance or go to the closest emergency room. If you also have a history of travel or a close contact with coronavirus, call the ER and let them know you are coming or inform the dispatcher if you call for an ambulance so that the medical team can be prepared and protect themselves and other people.
