This is a short compilation of the tracks of glider sondes shown on Google Earth. The ascent is normal then when the glider is released it appears to go at best glide back to the met office then follow a pattern of orbits (360) down to the landing site at the met office. Those interested will be able to find other links on the interWEB for more info. Sondes in order of appearance: 407-2-02987 2025 09 18 407-2-02987 2025 09 23 407-2-02987 2025 09 25 407-2-02990 2025 09 26 407-2-02990 2025 09 30 I have added a bit of a commentary, To get the data I took the data from the SondeHub .json file for the balloon. Imported it into Excel, added a column for lon, lat, alt to then paste that into a kml file to produce a line on GE. Once in GE I could colour the line and set it to display absolute altitude. for the kml you need to use the correct brackets. {?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?} {kml xmlns="http://www.opengis.net/kml/2.2"}{Document}{Style id="thisStyle"} {LineStyle} {color}500078F0{/color} {colorMode}Normal{/colorMode} {width}5{/width} {/LineStyle} {/Style} {Placemark} {LineString} {tessellate}1{/tessellate} {altitudeMode}clampToGround{/altitudeMode} {coordinates} 1.37473,43.57708,162.34 1.37477,43.57708,161.72 1.37468,43.57728,163.92 etc {/coordinates} {/LineString} {/Placemark} {/Document} {/kml} I will leave it to you as a viewer to use your own initiative if you want to enhance this work. Once again an excellent piece of work by the Swiss and French teams. Well done on making the data easy to obtain for amateur processing. The only issue I have with this work is that there will be no sondes to chase next time I come on holiday in Gaillac. 73 de G4VFL
