Raw footage of me unloading my kayak with the Thule Hullavator setup. Sorry for the lack of editing - I managed to "squeeze" about 45 seconds of content into nearly 3 minutes. :-) The system is ridiculously easy to use - the arms have gas struts in them that take most of the weight off. My old Delsyk weighed about 58 pounds - and the Hurricane only weighed about 50. "I scored this older Thule Hullavator off Craigslist after wanting one for years! It's not the "Pro" - I think the later ones would take a little bit wider kayak, but this one worked great with room to spare on my boats. My rack is a gutter mount Thule with square bars. The bars only stick out past the mounts a couple inches and I really didn't know if they would work for the Hullavator - but I got lucky and it works great! I left the J-hooks on the other side - If I lift another kayak onto the open side doors and wrestle it onto the J-hooks I can haul two now. And it makes me appreciate the Hullavator even more. The Delsyk Nifty 430 in the thumbnail is a pretty uncommon older plastic boat that was designed by Mike Necker, formerly of Necky kayaks. It was my first "sea kayak" and the learning curve was kinda steep for me. I also had the Hurricane Tracer 16.5' that is in the video, and it was even more "tippy." I'm living in Middle Tennessee right now, and have decided to get a crossover or "creek" boat, but I always liked this type. Since I made the video, I have sold both of these boats. The Hullavator can use the Thule lock cylinders - mine doesn't have the cylinders, but they could be easily added for a bit more peace of mind."
