Sophie Fisher, Founder of Girls on Bikes ACT, explains how her charity mobilises and connects migrant and refugee women in Canberra, and why it's important to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Sophie Fisher is the founder and Director of Girls on Bikes, a free learn to cycle program for migrant and refugee women in Canberra. She is a Board Director at YWCA Canberra and Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT and the vice-curator of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Canberra Hub. Sophie works at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in the Office of the Pacific and is currently studying her Masters of Asian and Pacific Studies part-time. She lives on a farm near Canberra city with her partner and her dog. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
