WARNING: This video...has pretty terribad quality. I'd only recommend watching it if you know what's inside and still think it's worth watching or have basically amazing tolerance for bad video stutter. This was one of many races I joined in on with the Gamer's Bench crew on the date in question, but I wasn't going to upload any of them at all...because, well...what you see going on with the video. This one was the...shall we say least unwatchable, and I received specific inquiries about whether or not I'd upload it by a couple of streamgoers... so... consider it a "bonus" for the day on account of such a ridiculously short Duodecim upload. (Yes, yes, I know, the two have nothing to do with one another, some "bonus," eh?) You can see another side of these races here: • Mario Kart Wii -- Online Races 279: This B... Anyway, consider this also a demonstration of why I don't always upload them...well, besides the fact that Jon holds a TON of streams and uploads way more stuff than I do. Whenever a stream is held, a vital part of me feeling "connected" to the stream is being in the chat and listening to the wacky banter as the races proceed. Unfortunately, when I do this, my computer sometimes decides (regardless of how many unnecessary tasks I end) that it just won't want to juggle these responsibilities and if I try to record while playing, that's the thing that'll die off first. There is a Twitch TV app for Android that I can use, but its most up-to-date stream lags quite a bit from the action, so it's not yet acceptable as a substitute to help take the strain off my poor, inconsistently "overworked" slacker of a laptop... not that I ever actually expect it to be as such, since it's got to be optimized for mobile...although I can dream sometime, as all I really need is the audio, although the idea of the rebirth of splitscreen gaming on some limited level is kinda neat. Oh well. Anyway, this is not a "problem" per se, unless you're bothered by not having too many extra vantage points on a very specific source for Mario Kart Wii races. --- 5 April 2012 Mii (Yami Yuki) Spear So, another Spear Cup was on the horizon, and I've explained my whole situation with those...but I was feeling unusually confident that time and the power of darkness intervened because someone happened to get accidentally disconnected from the stream, allowing me the opportunity to jump offline, switch my Mii, and get back without delaying the race. ("The door to darkness has opened. It's game time!") --- Race #1 -- GCN Waluigi Stadium I wasn't actually pleased to see the course selection's result, because I still have issues with it and particularly that final stretch before the last jump. But apparently everybody else has that issue, too. The rest of how the race unfolded is unusually typical for me, just the ending is a bit of a subversion of my general expectations. From this moment, I knew something had happened and this truly was a game sent to the shadow realm. Or not, but at least it's not a children's card game set to a less-interesting background and played for drama. --- Race #2 -- N64 Bowser's Castle So, the general trend in the selection process was to shift to choosing overly complex courses with treacherous turns at minimum and hazardous driving conditions at best, and my inner darkness responded in delight. Granted, it only plays into what is fundamentally at play here...that I'm not really beating my opponents, they're being beaten by a vehicle choice they don't happen to like using except for the fun of watching everybody hit things. The longer the course and the greater lead I can mount just by... well, not hitting things, the less powerful items become, and therefore my greatest weakness is nullified for a change of pace. --- Race #3 -- DS Delfino Square Truth time: I chose this stage because it's one of my favorites from Mario Kart DS, as I've pointed out before...and I was really just curious how people would handle the narrow alleyways while I enjoyed the race. --- Race #4 -- DS Yoshi Falls If I recall correctly, Mel decided she was tired and wanted to go to sleep, so she deliberately picked the shortest course she felt like racing on. It's not the first time something like this has happened, but it's truly the best way to overcome me and my propensity for terrible misfortune to befall me when things get at their most congested and chaotic with all sorts of items at play. Just see...basically any race I have on Luigi Circuit, GCN Peach Beach, or even SNES Ghost Valley 2 if you want to see how this race was "supposed" to unfold. So, really, I had to force myself to err on the overly defensive side of driving and item use, which drives me absolutely nuts and gets me on pins and needles the whole time, because I KNOW that there's a lot that can and will happen that I just can't control even so, and it was just luck that such things didn't happen.
