Teleoperation of Autonomous Vehicles Demonstration — Mcity 2.0 Open House

Chapters: Teleoperation Use Case Presentation: 00:21 Teleoperation Demonstration: 09:42 The National Science Foundation funded the Mcity 2.0 project to create digital infrastructure that works with the physical infrastructure of the Mcity Test Facility to enable remote use of the test track. Remote use capabilities offer a safe way to experiment with potentially risky scenarios, such as employing a remote teleoperator to help an AV get unstuck. This demonstration uses a state-of-the-art driving simulator with a sit-in cockpit and projection screen, supplied by VI-grade. It allows the user to attempt to safely navigate a real AV around a virtual obstacle in the Mcity Test Facility. During our Mcity 2.0 Open House, our engineering research team conducted a live demonstration of a teleoperation use case with volunteer teleoperator, Dr. Daniel Linzell (National Science Foundation).
