Gary Jordan MMR treats us to an overview of his carefully designed and executed O scale model railroad, based on the Gilpin Tram in the Colorado mountains in 1915. The two-foot gage Gilpin Tram in Central City connects to the three-foot gage Colorado and Southern (C&S) in Black Hawk which connects to the standard gage CB&Q in Golden, Colorado. Construction progress photos and tips, clever use of space in a helix, benchwork that slides away from the wall when needed, waybills that track commodities across two interchanges between three different gages, train control electronics his workbench and a part of the layout that folds up into a "coffin", are all shown and described in this video. Gary and his wife then demonstrate the smooth-running trains, including switching out the New York Mill in Black Hawk. The session ends with some brief but interesting Q&A. This video was recorded at the January 9, 2021, Zoom session of monthly layout tours held by the fourth division of the Pacific Northwest Region (www.4DPNR.com) of the National Model Railroading Association (www.nmra.org), and edited by Burr Stewart. "MMR" is a designation of distinction granted to model railroaders who have met the knowledge and experience standards advanced in the NMRA's "Achievement Program" (AP).
