Chancellor Blvd – A Terrazzo Installation for the History Books My name is Nolan Mayrhofer, founder of Victoria Stone Design, and I’m proud to share what I believe is one of the most architecturally significant terrazzo projects ever completed. Chancellor Blvd, located in Point Grey, Vancouver, BC wasn’t just another floor—it was a three-year journey of collaboration, creativity, and craftsmanship. What began as a standard request for pricing turned into a monumental undertaking that pushed the limits of what’s possible in terrazzo design. From CNC-cut brass divider strips that serve as both crack control and a key visual element, to a structural glass inlay offering a view into the gym below—every detail demanded precision and intention. We worked with multi-level substrates, laser-leveled every brass strip, and ground terrazzo against high-end finishes like Schüco windows and concrete walls with millimeter-perfect tolerance. At one point, I spent a full week personally grinding the terrazzo around the structural glass—because the guy with the most to lose had to be the one to do the riskiest job. We used router sleds, pneumatic grinders, and even laser mapping to achieve a flawless surface. This wasn’t just about technique—it was about vision, and turning the impossible into the probable through relentless problem solving.
