There’s a newer version of this sweater still on sale at retail, and for ONLY 990 bucks, but its red Also the fact that there’s more going on. Obviously minimalist and monotone is very IN right now….but it doesn’t hurt to let certain things POP now and then I remember wanting to buy this when I first laid eyes on it…but that pricetag just disgusted me especially because I just don’t do sweaters all that much But recently there was a sneaker shopping episode with J Balvin on complex He left mid episode to change! But yea seeing this sweater…yet again…I said you know what. I’m starting this channel…what better way than to start with this sweater. Now I had to resort to ebay since this is no longer in stock to find the ONE available sweater that was in my size…I went with a medium, which from the seller's description was supposed to fit like a typical large, which is what I usually wear. Now the description of this on Barney’s website is the following: Crafted of black and multicolored striped stockinette-stitched stretch wool, Saint Laurent's sweater is styled at front with an intarsia-knit T-Rex head and stars. This is from the Surf Sound Collection for Summer 2016 So back to our original question: what makes it cost so much. Well for one, it was made in Italy, and I’m a big sucker for anything Italian. But the main reason, to put it bluntly, is the branding. But in order to explore why the branding results in such a luxury price tag, we have to look at the history of the brand and the creative director, Hedi Slimane. Now to answer the second part of the question for today: is it worth it? My answer? Lemme answer that with another question- IS THERE A DINOSAUR ON THIS THING?? YES Now I’m a sucker for dinosaurs, so this already had me won. Just like most people my age, Jurassic park was a YUGE part of our youth, and this exact Trex pose is just such a great reminder of that era and that amazingness that was my youth Unfortunately there’s not a lot else known about the influence behind how this Trex got into this collection- is Hedi Slimane a big dinosaur fan too? Or what? Idk. But im thankful he was involved in the design of this, and I’m looking forward to rockin this randomly under a blazer for a chilly night out, or an ugly sweater party, or just random winter get togethers.
