Daniel Robert Martell, the thirty-four-year-old stepfather of missing Nova Scotia children Lily and Jack Sullivan, was arrested Monday January twenty-seventh and charged with sexual assault, assault, and forcible confinement involving an adult complainant, with the alleged crimes occurring between September 2024 and March 2025 according to court documents. RCMP confirmed the charges are not directly related to the children's disappearance which occurred May second when both children vanished from their Lansdowne home and have not been found despite extensive searches. Daniel was released on conditions including no contact with the alleged victim and is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court March second, having previously denied domestic violence allegations that emerged in January court documents while maintaining he played no role in the children's disappearance.
