Exploring Historic Harringay & Hornsey Walking Tour | Warehouse District to Ally Pally

A walk exploring the fantastic modern history of Harringay, Hornsey, Alexandra Palace and Muswell Hill. Our walking tour starts with a stroll around the Harringay Warehouse District with its fascinating industrial history as the centre of piano manufacture in the UK, and the home of Maynards confectionary famous for their Wine Gums. From here we walk along the ancient Green Lanes and answer the question of why the borough is spelt Haringey but the neighbourhood Harringay. The route then passes along Wightman Road, over Hornsey Station, Tottenham Lane and Hornsey High Street. Here we admire the 13th century St. Mary's Church Tower before entering Alexandra Park. This exploration of uncanny Haringey ascends the hill to the magnificent Alexandra Palace, first built in 1873 with its amazing views of London. The walk ends at the location of the Mossy Well in Muswell Road, an ancient site of pilgrimage.
