The term was coined by Ernst Haeckel in 1866. 🔹 Levels of Ecological Organization Organism – Individual living being Population – Same species in a given area Community – Different populations living together Ecosystem – Interaction of biotic and abiotic components Biome – Large ecological region (e.g., desert, tundra) Biosphere – Global ecological system (Earth) 🌳 2️⃣ Ecosystem An ecosystem is a functional unit where living organisms interact with each other and the non-living environment.
