In real life, pipe flows total energy or head (Kinetic+ Pressure+ Potential) that enters into a pipe system does not remain the same along the length of the pipe and gradually diminishes. This energy loss or head loss is one of the most common problems in fluid dynamics. Pipe systems mainly include an inlet, outlet, bends, elbows, and many other pipe fittings in the flow that create eddies resulting in head losses (called minor losses) in addition to losses due to pipe friction (called major losses). This experiment will provide a couple of test trials to measure losses in pipes, mainly straight pipe with 10mm inner diameter, bent pipe, and elbow pipe. this apparatus is a Cussons made setup with model number P6221.P6221 Losses In Pipes and Fittings Apparatus consists of a set of six test sections each 464 mm long.
