The new update has just been released and it brought us skewers, among with other elements to play with. Today we are having a quick look on tips, tricks and ideas with skewers in super mario maker. While skewers look like horrific huge spikes at first glance they actually are mainly used as huge spiked timers! There are so many new cool ways to create clocks with this element, its amazing. That's the good news, the bad news is that there isn't that much more that you can do with them. Okay, you can use skewers in their intended form, as a fearsome threat to Mario's health, or to create destructible floors and ceilings, or as a cool new tool to create creative puzzles; but thats it. So how does a skewer-timer work? All you need to do is to put blocks on top of the skewer, once it hits the blocks they will get destroyed. You can create a lot of different cool machines with this mechanic. Want a p-switch that triggers automated after 13 seconds, a path that gets unblocked after 20 seconds or a boss fight where every five seconds more enemies enter the arena? With the new skewer thats not a problem anymore!
