I sorted scraps and found strip sets sewn together. I decided to create a rail fence....sort of. Create new fabric with your strips. I organized them into color groups to maximize the contrast and visual appeal. Add a focus fabric and you have a new scrappy quilt. The pattern is here and FREE for you to use. Here's my quilt block pattern: 1. Make strip sets 7.5 inches wide. Use a very short stitch to connect the strips. This reduces risk of seams separating when sub-cut. Press seams open. Sub-cut into 5.5 inch blocks 2. Cut focus fabric into 2.5 inch strips Sub-cut focus fabric into 7.5 inch lengths 3. Sew focus fabric across the 5.5 inch end (perpendicular to strip sets) Press strip seam toward the focus fabric Finished block size: 7 inches If you want to change the block size, make the strip set roughly twice as wide as your focus fabric. I hope you are inspired to create your own RAIL & STRIPS quilt.
