Accessibility Awareness & Inclusive Communication (AODA) - Core Safety Training Accessibility awareness is an important part of creating a respectful, inclusive, and safe workplace. This training provides awareness of accessibility principles and inclusive communication expectations in alignment with Ontario accessibility requirements. This module focuses on how workers interact and communicate with co-workers, clients, customers, and members of the public in a respectful and accessible way. Topics covered in this training include: What accessibility means in the workplace Understanding visible and invisible disabilities Core accessibility principles: dignity, independence, integration, and equal opportunity Inclusive communication expectations Assisting individuals appropriately and respectfully Service animals and support persons Identifying and reporting accessibility barriers Privacy, confidentiality, and respectful behaviour Employer and worker responsibilities Reporting expectations and no-reprisal protections This training is provided for awareness purposes only. It does not provide legal advice and does not replace workplace policies or procedures. Accessibility policies and related resources are available in Corfix under: PMN/SCA – Policies + Safety/Training Documents Reporting & Support: • Accessibility concerns or barriers must be reported through an incident report and by notifying a supervisor • Both steps are required • If assistance is needed, the office can help complete the report; however, self-reporting is encouraged Workers will not face discipline or reprisal for raising accessibility concerns or requesting accommodation in good faith. This training forms part of the Conduct, Communication & Workplace Culture program and is completed during onboarding, reinforced through toolbox talks, and updated as workplace policies or accessibility requirements change.
