Lieutenant injured in deadly police shooting makes first public appearance at fundraiser

One of the law enforcement officers injured in a deadly police shooting last month made his first public appearance over the weekend. Lt. Dave Godfrey attended the sheriff’s office ninth annual K9 Unit Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser Sunday—and he’s also the one who came up with the idea for the fundraiser years ago. Godfrey, who's worked with the York County Sheriff's Office for 24 years, was one of the five officers shot Sept. 17 during an ambush in North Codorus Township. The lieutenant was recently released from the hospital but is still recovering from his injuries. "It's blood in and blood out, so you're stuck with the canine unit forever. You’re always one of us,” Godfrey said at the event, before leaning in to hug another officer.
