In Hong Kong, it’s always hot and humid in the summer, and the temperature indoors can even be higher than outdoors. Air-con is a solution, but electricity bills are so high, and it’s environmentally unfriendly! Thanks to Seed Fund and Angel Fund investment from HK Tech 300, i2Cool developed an innovative passive radiative paint, which is inspired by the surface hair structure of a Saharan silver ant that can resist the blazing sun. When applied to the exterior wall of a building, the paint simultaneously reflects most of the sunlight and dissipates the building's heat into the atmosphere in the form of mid-infrared radiation, resulting in a significant drop in the building's indoor temperature, saving energy, and helping to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality. The innovative passive radiative paint has been applied in buildings, storage facilities, and outdoor facilities for effective cooling.
