Crack’ed: An Egg-Citing Adventure! is a unique 1988 target-shooting game developed by Robert Craig (credited as Robert Neve) and published by Atari Corporation for the Atari 7800 and Atari ST. In this offbeat and challenging title, players must protect bird eggs from waves of predators—snakes, squirrels, and other egg thieves—by shooting them before they snatch the precious cargo. The gameplay mixes action and strategy: use your joystick to aim the crosshair, shoot the attacking creatures, and if an egg is stolen, blast the thief and catch the egg mid-air to return it safely to a nest! The game features five different themed levels, each with increasing difficulty and new enemies. Unlike most Atari shooters, Crack’ed does not support the XG-1 light gun, relying instead on precise joystick aiming. The quirky theme, humor, and fast-paced challenge make Crack’ed one of the strangest yet most entertaining games on the Atari 7800. Originally developed for the Atari ST, it was later ported to the 7800 with simplified graphics and controls. A planned Atari 2600 version was canceled before release, but prototypes surfaced decades later. Despite mixed reviews—praised for originality but criticized for its stiff controls—Crack’ed remains a fascinating piece of Atari history and a cult classic among retro fans. #vaultofpixels #atari #atari7800 #crack'ed Playlist: • Atari -- 7800
